For body and soul

The most beautiful market in Munich is literally on the doorstep of the LOUIS HOTEL. It has existed since 1807 when it was known as the “Kräutlmarkt” (herb market) and was much smaller. As it grew over the years and became more and more extensive, the name changed to “Viktualienmarkt” (the word “Viktualien” is a late Latin word for food).

Today, the Viktualienmarkt is home to a number of international delicacies, along with largely local produce from the surrounding areas. All the food is of the highest quality and is, of course, completely fresh.

So it’s no surprise that the LOUIS also does its shopping there. In concrete terms, this means that we obtain as much food and as many ingredients as possible directly from the Viktualienmarkt. In this way, we always acquire the freshest and best regional products.

And when we look out of the window every day at the many colourful, gingerbread hearts, our own hearts rejoice in what we see… It really does nourish both body and soul. Thank you, dear Viktualienmarkt.

Open Monday to Saturday until 8 pm, except for florists, bakers and restaurants.

Bar Centrale

Italian Flair

Italy starts in Munich. Or to be more precise, in the LOUIS' sister hotel, the CORTINA Hotel in Ledererstrasse. In order to penetrate deeper into that Mediterranean country, you have only to cross the road and go through the brown door diagonally underneath the ``Sale e Tabacchi`` sign. If you then hear a loud ``la porta!`` being shouted at you and the best espresso in the city is put down in front of you, you know, sense and taste that you are no longer on the border, but in the middle of Italy. You may even start speaking fluent Italian, even though you've never understood a word of it.
